25% of the PCB prototype orders are put on hold because designers do not design for manufacturing. Without good design, things can get a little crazy very quickly. For designing a board, there might be characteristics just outside the normal parameters. It’s important to talk to your PCB manufacturer ahead of time.
PCB manufacturing capabilities are just guidelines, so different minimum specifications depend on different circumstances and other board characteristics. Flex PCBs improve resistance to vibrations and movement. They have lower mass/weight and can fit in small packages. Flex boards have high tensile strength: they can be significantly warped/deformed up to 360 degrees without breakage.
Always remember, designing prototypes is not the same as designing for mass production.
