HDI PCB prototype guidelines set your design up for manufacturing success
The number one question designers usually ask is... what pad sizes, what hole sizes and how tight can the traces and spaces be together? These are good questions as long as you’re designing a relatively standard board but as you get into more complicated boards such as HDI or microelectronics with finer feature sets it may not work.
25% of the PCB prototype orders are put on hold because designers do not design for manufacturing. Without good design, things can get a little crazy very quickly. For designing a board, there might be characteristics just outside the normal parameters. It’s important to talk to your HDI PCB manufacturer ahead of time.
PCB manufacturing capabilities are just guidelines, so different minimum specifications depend on different circumstances and other board characteristics.
Always remember, designing prototypes is not the same as designing for mass production.
